Desert Paws Announces New Name Reflecting Group’s Growing National Presence

Dr. Lori Kirshner, Founder and President of Desert Paws announces new name for
animal advocate organization.

Rancho Mirage, CA – October 28, 2011 – The animal welfare organization Desert Paws announced its new name, Advancing the Interests of Animals at the 2011 Courage in Action Celebration held on October 28, 2011 in Rancho Mirage, California. The dinner gala featured Barry Manilow as the special presenter of the Courageous Heart Awards, honoring 13 deserving individuals who have worked as advocates on behalf of animals.

“The new name reflects the growing influence and reach of the organization and its efforts for the welfare of all animals” states Dr. Kirshner.

The enhanced organization plans to grow its media efforts that inform and educate the public on issues concerning the welfare of all animals. The cornerstone of this media effort will be the nationally syndicated show, Animals Today.

Additionally, Advancing the Interests of Animals will develop focused campaigns and initiatives designed to protect and assist animals. The first of these will be educational programs for children and teens that promote greater kindness and respect toward animals.

Desert Paws has been working to improve the lives of animals in Southern California since 2000. Some of the organization’s efforts include:

  • Supporting educational programs on responsible pet guardianship and animal welfare.
  • Supporting low cost spay and neuter efforts
  • Publishing a monthly animal adoption page in the Desert Sun to boost adoptions at local shelter facilities, helping to decrease the euthanasia rate in local facilities.
  • Encouraging compassion and respect toward all animals through various media efforts.
